+The Electric+
-Dreamwalkers-

We are a 6 piece Indie Band from Motherwell and we specialise in Indie/Rock music. When we were first assembled together by our lecturers on the 27th of August. We were assigned a brief, come up with a 30 minute set that's to be played live at Ivory Blacks on the 12th of November. Sparks were flying from the first moment we all sat down together, our guitarist (Arran Young) pulled a riff out from absolutely nowhere and played what is now our most popular track, Burning. Burning was something else entirely, Singer Margherita Kelt described the song as 'Our baby, something we've had from the start' on stage at Ivory Blacks, where the song was premiered to a sizeable audience at our first ever gig. The name Electric Dreamwalkers came from our drummer (Mark Summers), Mark had generously given his time and his influence to the band as (while a part of the Motherwell course at degree level) he was not part of our HND course. Without Mark the setlist and our songs would've been a completely different vibe as we do not have any drummers on the HND course.

Our setlist consisted of 7 songs, 4 covers and 3 originals. The first of these originals to be played was Lamb Street, written by our singer Mario Venditti. When asked to comment mario said "Lamb Street tells a story of a place where nothing changes. The idea being born out of a real street in Hamilton Scotland, the song uses Lamb Street as a metaphor for not being able to live up to your potential, spending your life trying to break the pattern, only to slowly accept that it can't be any other way." Lamb Street provided a more mellow and reflective section to our set and it's one of the tracks that you'll hear during our upcoming CUMBERNAULD FM performance on the 4th of December. The second original was written by our Bass player Scott Young (no relation to the guitarist/writer of this here web page). When asked to comment on the inspiration for Ivory he had this to say. "Ivory is a song that, sonically takes inspiration from late 60's rock (i.e. Cream/Eric Clapton) as well as early to mid-2000's indie rock (I.e. Arctic Monkeys/Kasabian). Conceptually and Lyrically, it's written from the perspective of someone who spends a night at a live music venue, whether as a performer or spectator, and falls for another attendee at the event.". Our final song (and most popular by far) is the brainchild of Margherita, our singer Nico Winfield and Myself. Burning was the first thing we wrote and was by far the biggest hit with audience, our superiors and our peers. Margherita commented on the song, "Burning lyric wise was about lack of religion i guess ? Like being brought up in a religious environment but not really being a part of that". If i had to comment on Burning i'd say at least for me, it was the result of a few months of pent up frustration musically, i'd had a writers block that was holding me back from putting good music out there again and i suppose the change of environment from gigging every other week to being settled back into a more relaxed, studious habitat "broke the seal" in a way. When we actually sat down with the song it was finished in about 3 rehearsals, i'm strangely precious about Burning, but i can't wait for it to be released.
